OUR MISSIONAL PARTNERS
Some of you will remember that a team of us was invited to The Gospel
and Our Culture Network Annual Consultation during October 20-22, 2005
at St. Paul, Minnesota.
We reported on our visit at www.missionalchurches.org.za. We had
the privilege to meet with various institutions in Minneapolis. These
institutions are doing marvellous work. Our team made a commitment to
introduce them to our Southern-Africa partners. The idea is to innovate
an ongoing learning and growing practice for the Missional Partnership.
You may meet with our fellow colleagues at:
- Search Institute (www.search-institute.org)
- Bethel University (www.bethel.edu) - consult their programme on reconciliation
- Faith Inkubators (www.faithink.com)
- The Youth & Family Institute (www.youthandfamilyinstitute.org)
- Institute for Executive Leadership and Diversity (www.diversity.rutgers.edu).
I have just met with Pastor Jin Kim and twelve of his church's members here at Buvton on the 15th of March. Curtiss DeYoung introduced us. Pastor Kim represents the Church of All Nations in Minneapolis. It is a Presbyterian church that envisions a Church that belongs to all people and not just as a multi-cultural church. I recommend this place as a learning opportunity of significance for congregations that envision such a church for all God's people. You can visit them at www.cando.org.
Allelon's mission is to educate and encourage the church to become a people among whom God can live, as sign, symbol, and foretaste of his redeeming love and grace in their neighborhoods and the whole of society.
Allelon is a non-profit foundation dedicated to providing resources and training to missional leaders and church communities from a wide array of organizations and denominations throughout North America and the world. Visit them at (www.allelon.org).
Spirit Garage at www.spiritgarage.org. Spirit Garage is a Christian faith community that gathers in the Uptown area of Minneapolis. The people of Spirit Garage come from all kinds of religious and not-so-religious backgrounds. They maintain financial and official ties with Lutheran Church (ELCA) throught their pastor and their sponsor congregation, Bethlehem Lutheran of South Minneapolis. 'What we do at Spirit Garage may or may not be what many people would call Lutheran; nevertheless, we find that the connection to the larger church is helpful'.
Dit is duidelik dat ons mekaar oor die wêreld heen nodig he tom te onderskei waarop ons gestuurde roeping neerkom.
